Community Life at Blue Oak School

At Blue Oak School, learning and connection extend beyond the classroom. We offer a variety of enrichment programs and support services that provide students with meaningful, engaging experiences—while giving families added flexibility and support.

Blue Oak’s programs extend learning and connection beyond the school day, fostering a strong sense of community and supporting the whole child. From after-school care and summer camps to athletics, enrichment activities, and family engagement opportunities, these offerings nurture students’ intellectual, creative, and social development—creating an inclusive, joyful environment where children and families can thrive.

Aftercare

Blue Oak’s Aftercare program provides a safe, engaging environment for Blue Oak students and children from the greater community who need care at the end of the school day. Students enjoy outdoor play, healthy snacks, and a variety of activities including arts and crafts, board games, reading, and time to get started on homework. Aftercare runs from dismissal at 3:20 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Enrichment Classes

Blue Oak’s After-School Enrichment program offers TK–8 students—both from Blue Oak and the greater community—opportunities to explore new interests through engaging, hands-on learning. Current offerings regularly include Chess with Cate (TK–8), where students build critical thinking and strategy skills, and Beginner Rock Band (grades 3–8), providing collaborative, performance-based music experiences. Seasonal classes include focuses in the areas of STEM, visual arts, languages, sports, games, and mindfulness—designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence beyond the classroom.

SCHEDULE

After School Enrichment Classes operate Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. for a duration of about eight weeks, with students typically meeting for an hour once a week.

After School Enrichment Classes take place throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring Seasons, with classes with the offerings changing each season.

Kids’ Night Out

Blue Oak School hosts monthly Kids’ Night Out (KNO), a joyful, engaging evening for TK–8 students from both Blue Oak and the greater community. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts, dance parties, classic games, and dedicated Game Night activities that foster connection and friendly competition. Our evenings include pizza, popcorn, and an age-appropriate movie—pajamas, blankets, and stuffed animals welcome! Kids’ Night Out is a fun, safe way for students to build friendships and enjoy time together beyond the school day.
