Math
In middle school, students expand their problem-solving skills by engaging in mathematically rich projects and activities. Students use real-life problems and scenarios to create representations, recognize patterns, and make generalizations. Through this hands-on approach, students learn to choose tools and strategies to support their reasoning. Critical-thinking and communication skills are strengthened as students collaborate to share their own mathematical thinking and critique the arguments of others.
Students engage in integrated projects in small groups, partnerships, and independently to deconstruct problems and explore numerous strategies and methods to solve these problems. Students also form viable arguments for solutions with efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility.
